Thank you for your interest in Good Samaritan Hunger Center (GSHC). GSHC was the vision of Sister Jordan Haddad and incorporated as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in May 1982. We continue to serve the needs of the hungry in Akron and surrounding communities. At GSHC, hunger is not an option.
We provide nutritious, delicious hot meals and grocery bags of food at community centers in Akron area neighborhoods. The hot meals and grocery bags are served in a spirit of encouragement and hospitality to anyone who comes. All are welcome.
We use donated and perishable food that might otherwise go to waste. Food donations come from restaurants, grocery stores, food vendors and distributors, commercial and home gardeners, and most importantly, people like you. Schools, churches, and community groups donate canned and non-perishable food from collection drives.
